PSP 3000 Review

The new model PSP (3000) has been released for some time, here you can see their features and differences from other models.

Basically it comes with built-in microphone, LCD with higher color definition and improved layout. In this review you will see if the new improvements really make a difference and justify the exchange of your old PSP Fat / Slim.

Much was discussed when Sony released the latest revision of the PSP, the PSP-3000. It would be an improved screen and built-in microphone sufficient justification to change the newly released PSP Slim with a new model? Watch the review below and make your decision.

Hardware Changes

As already mentioned, the new PSP has a new LCD screen and a microphone. When off course these changes are not noticeable (except for the microphone hole underneath the screen), but the new PSP-3000 brings other changes very welcome, one of the new rounded buttons that facilitate the use of keys Start / Select in addition to the Home button has now been replaced by "PS", similar to the Playstation 3.

Also, another thing I noticed when operating the handheld for a few seconds into the XMB is that the feedback of the buttons and the joystick is much better. The buttons are now slightly higher than those found in previous models and the d-pad has gained a kind of curve that makes it easier to press. However, no change was made in the analog joystick.

Another small cosmetic change made in the PSP-3000 is the ring that sits behind the UMD tray of the apparatus, which is now more stylized, and his painting, which is now matte instead of glossy thereby attracting fewer fingerprints.

The new LCD

Now the part that everyone expected, the new LCD. To assess the quality of the fabric of the new PSP-3000 used two simple tests: The UMD-Video and play with your device. Comparisons were made against the screen of my PSP Fat and all results were approved by ISO9001 and NewInside laboratory tests.

First the UMD-Video. Compared with the PSP Fat did not notice any difference in color depth, but the differences are enormous brightness. The image on the PSP-3000 seems to be "cleaner" and living. It's like watching a TV show and the same program on DVD. As some others have mentioned in previous reviews, the new PSP's LCD has a slightly higher frequency of updating and generates some scanlines (vertical lines on the screen). During playback of UMD-Video it was clearly noticeable, especially when there is a shift from a complete picture on the screen, but did not affect in any way the quality of reproduction.

But the big difference is perceived in the new LCD games. The balance of brightness and contrast was drastically improved and the colors took on new life on the screen of the PSP-3000.

Above you can see the comparison and aesthetics of the screen of the PSP 2000 to 3000. The new LCD of the PSP is light years better than the old PSP.

Conclusion

If you already have a PSP Slim, the new PSP-3000 is more of the same, but with an LCD that makes it incredibly improved their experiences with the handheld even more enjoyable. For those who have a PSP Fat, we gain the weight and size, and of course the new LCD and Skype support. My verdict is: If you do not mind playing games on UMD and uses lots of PSP for watching movies, the new PSP-3000 is certainly an excellent buy which you will not regret it.
